Simple Step-By-Step Guide To Starting Seeds At Home

Step 1
Starting Indoors or Outdoors
Start seeds indoors or outdoors based on packet instructions. For indoor starts, use a seed starting cell tray with seed-starting soil and keep it moist. Outdoor planting involves preparing soil, spacing seeds, and watering regularly.
Step 2
Plant Your Seeds
Use a fine-particulate seed starting soil and pre-moisten with water before filling cell trays. Be sure to follow the sowing depth instructions on your seed packet! Some seeds like to be sown deeply, while others prefer being on or barely under the soil.
Step 3
Cover with Germination Dome
A germination dome helps retain moisture in the soil. You’ll still need to water, but less often. Check regularly to ensure the soil stays evenly damp during germination and plant development.
Step 4
Add Heat and Light
If your seeds prefer warm soil temperatures, use our seedling heat mat to warm the soil. Our grow lights provide ideal lighting for newly germinated plants until it’s time to transplant.
Step 5
Watch Them Grow!
As your seeds grow, monitor them closely for signs of healthy growth and adjust watering as needed to keep the soil moist but not soggy.When the plants are strong enough and the weather is right, prepare to transfer them outdoors by gradually acclimating them to the outside environment.
Step 6
Time To Harvest!
When it’s time to transfer your plants outside, gently harden them off by gradually exposing them to sunlight and outdoor conditions. Once planted in the ground or containers, continue to care for them with regular watering and attention to their growth. When the plants reach their peak, harvest them at the right time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
