Product Details

  • Epic 4-Cell Trays are rigid, yet flexible and practically unbreakable to last the rest of your life
  • Proudly made in the USA from recycled, UV-treated, BPA-free
  • Epic 4-Cell trays are available in two depths - 3" and 4" deep.

Each individual cell in our tray features an air pruning side slot on all four corners to discourage root circling and encourage better root growth. The bottoms of each cell are also open, providing air pruning at the lower end of each cell.

8 Epic 4-Cell Trays fit perfectly into a standard 1020 nursery flat giving you the convenience of having all of your seedlings in one tray while giving you the flexibility to remove one 4-cell tray at a time.

Convenient finger holes in the bottom of each cell make it easy to remove seedlings when you are ready to transplant.  No more using a knife or tool to remove your plants; simply push the seedling out with your finger.

Epic 4-Cell trays can be used for crops that need more rooting space such as melons, cucumber, and tomatoes.  They can also be used for potting up when paired with our Epic 6-Cell trays.

How To Use

How To Use Epic Starter Cells

  1. Fill your Epic Starter Cells with a seed-starting mix, and add just enough water to moisten the soil, but not waterlog it.
  2. Dig a small hole with your finger, a pencil, or a chopstick. Ensure the hole depth is not more than 3x the width of the seed.
  3. Drop your seeds in and lightly cover them with starting mix.
  4. Add a light misting of water from a spray bottle, or just enough to moisten the seeds.
  5. If you have some plastic wrap handy, loosely drape it over the top of the pot to promote high humidity conditions that seeds love. Poke 3-5 holes in the top of the plastic wrap for ventilation. Or use a specialized dome cover.
  6. Place your cells on a sunny windowsill or under a grow light, and keep the soil moist as the seeds begin to germinate. Once sprouts come up, remove the plastic wrap or dome cover.
  7. Keep the healthiest seedling and remove extras with a pair of scissors, being careful not to damage the healthy seedling.
  8. Continue to keep the soil moist as your plant grows. When it’s 3 to 4 inches tall, easily pop out your starts and transplant them in the garden.

Cleaning Your Epic Starter Cells

We recommend hand-washing with hot, soapy water as the best way to keep the material in good shape for years of use. A good dish detergent should sterilize the trays enough to protect seedlings.
