FAQ

Q: What’s the difference between the Starter Kit and the Expansion Kit?

A: The Starter Kit is a complete watering system for one raised bed. It includes everything you need to start watering, including the hose connection components. The Expansion Kit is an add-on for additional beds. It connects to your Starter Kit and includes everything needed to irrigate one additional bed.

Q: Do I need the Starter Kit to use the Expansion Kit?

A: Yes. The Expansion Kit is designed to connect to the Starter Kit and does not include the hose connector.

Q: Can I use the starter kit on its own?

A: Yes! The starter kit is created to be a complete, stand-alone kit with everything you need to start hands-free watering a single raised garden bed.

Q: How many kits do I need for my garden?

A: Start with one Starter Kit for your first bed. Then add one Extension Kit per additional bed. For example, if you have 4 beds, you will need 1 Starter Kit and 3 Extension Kits. You can use our Epic Garden Watering System Calculator to determine the number of kits needed for your garden.

Q: Will this work for my raised bed size?

A: The watering system is designed specifically for raised beds and adjusts to fit beds between 2-4 feet wide and up to 10 feet long. The customizable manifold and drip tape make it easy to fit your setup.

Q: How long does installation take?

A: Most gardeners go from unboxing to watering in 30 minutes. This is a same-day project, not a weekend long commitment.

Q: What if I’ve never installed irrigation before?

A: This system is designed to be beginner-friendly. We’ve removed the common failure points, used quick connect fittings throughout, and made assembly fast and easy. No technical knowledge or professional required.

Q: How do I know if my plants will be watered evenly?

A: The system is engineered for uniform water distribution, so every plant in your bed gets consistent moisture and you don’t have to worry about dry spots or overwatering.

Q: How long will this system last?

A: This is not a one-season kit. It’s built to last years with 15-mil drip tape that resists UV, foot traffic, and is built for long-term outdoor use.

Q: What is the U-shaped connector for?

A: It routes water cleanly over the edge of your raised bed without kinking. No bending tubing or improvising connections.

Q: Can I expand the system later?

A: Yes. The system is fully modular. You can add Extension Kits or connect additional components as your garden grows.

Q: Will it connect to a standard garden hose?

A: Yes. The system uses a standard 3/4" garden hose (GHT) connection.

Q: Will this save water?

A: Yes. Drip irrigation delivers water directly to the roots, using up to 50% less water than traditional sprinklers.

Check fit and water supply before ordering

The included manifolds assemble for 2-, 3-, or 4-foot-wide beds. Drip tape trims to beds up to 10 feet long.

Use a standard 3/4-inch garden-hose connection and a water supply of at least 15 PSI. A gravity-fed rain barrel may not provide enough pressure.

The Starter Kit includes 50 feet of main tubing. Measure the route from your faucet and between beds, including the rise into each bed. Kit count alone does not confirm water flow or the maximum number of connected beds.

For wider beds, longer runs, slopes, or an uncertain water supply, ask Customer Support to check compatibility before ordering.

Epic Garden Watering System: Starter Kit
**Great System — One Small Improvement Would Make It Excellent**

As a first-year gardener, I’ve been really impressed with the Epic Gardening Watering System. The instructions were excellent, everything was thoughtfully organized in the box, and installation was very straightforward. It took me a little longer than the advertised 30 minutes, especially with two expansion kits, but the process was easy to follow.

My only critique is the end caps. Like a few other reviewers have mentioned, we had a couple come loose, including one that blew off while the system was running and caused us to lose some water. Fortunately, it was on a short timer, so no harm was done. We ended up securing all of the end caps with zip ties and haven’t had a problem since. A more secure end-cap design—or simply including a few zip ties in the kit—would be a great improvement.

Otherwise, I’ve been extremely happy with the system. We now have the Starter Kit plus two expansion kits watering three raised beds at our house.

This is my first year gardening, and Epic has been such a fun and motivating resource. I started with a community garden plot and enjoyed it enough that I got my partner interested too, which led to us building the three raised beds at home! I’m also really enjoying the seed-starting kit and looking forward to my first fall rotation.

Great products, great educational content, and a company that has made getting into gardening feel approachable and exciting. Keep up the great work!

    Hey Kwesi,

We're so thrilled to hear that you've had such a great experience with the Epic Garden Watering System Starter Kit! It's awesome that the instructions were clear and the installation process went smoothly for you - even with the expansion kits added on. We love that you're already expanding your setup to water three raised beds!

Thanks so much for bringing up the end cap feedback. We really appreciate you sharing that detail, and we hear you on how securing them with zip ties solved the issue for you. Your suggestion about including zip ties or improving the end cap design is genuinely valuable, and we're grateful you took the time to mention it.

But honestly, what we're most excited about is how you've gone from a community garden plot to building raised beds at home and getting your partner involved in gardening too! That's the kind of gardening journey we love to see. And we're so glad our seed-starting kit and educational content have helped make getting into gardening feel approachable and exciting for you.

Thanks so much for being part of the growing community, and we can't wait to see what you grow this fall! Keep on growing 🌻

Epic Garden Watering System: Starter Kit
    Not enough parts, unclear instructions

There literally are not enough parts to set this up. I already have a timer and a hose connection, so I bought the extension kit, but it literally doesn't have enough parts to connect more than 1 bed. Except for caps and approximately 10,000 landscape staples, there is only 1 of everything. How am I supposed to set this up for 3 garden beds? There are 3 manifolds, but no way for me to connect them to water. The tubing they provided is rigid, and kinks easily, so you can't just bend it over the garden bed. You need the U-connector, and you only get 1 of those.

Also the instructions are super unclear. It appears as though I'm missing a part to connect the tubing to the manifold, like I literally don't have it. Is it supposed to be the same one as the drip tape adapters? If so, they didn't provide enough of those. I don't get it. Note that I already had a watering setup in place I created myself, just wanted to upgrade, so I'm somewhat familiar with setting up irrigation.

How to fix this: let people select the number of parts they need. Until then, you can't call this "fully customizable".

    Hello Sylvia,

We’re so sorry for the frustration and confusion you experienced with the Epic Garden Watering System. Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback, especially regarding the number of parts included, the tubing, and the instructions.

Based on the details you shared, it sounds like you may be referring to the Epic Garden Watering System: Expansion Kit rather than the Starter Kit, particularly with your comments about the number of manifolds, U-connectors, and other components included.

We understand how frustrating it must be to expect the system to work for multiple beds and then find that you don’t have all the parts needed to complete the setup.

We’d like to help clarify this and see how we can assist, so we’ll reach out to you via email.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and for helping us improve our products and customer experience.

    end clamps keep breaking

Easy install, everything goes together nicely but whoever the supplier if the end clamps is, they need to be replaced. I've had they system installed for maybe two weeks and i've had four of them break off the end of the hose and its the same weak seam that pops.
