The little recycled boxes did the trick! I was able to plant my seedlings where I wanted them. I could see the sow bugs lining up for dinner however so I put toothpicks around them like a fence and plastic cups with the bottom opened up to protect them till they were bigger. I'm going to have lovely sunflowers!

These recycled boxes did the trick! I wanted to grow sunflowers and knew they would prefer being direct sown. I wasn't sure of placement so these boxes gave me the best of both options. I planted 4 different kinds of seeds and they all sprouted. I have now planted them in the ground. I could see the sow bugs lining up to eat them so I put little "fences' of toothpicks around them to deter their path. So far the sunflowers are winning! :-) It's going to be a beautiful show this summer!

    Love these paper pots.

I love these for starting poppies inside. I had 100% success in growing some poppies, where I usually struggle. These worked great!

I thought it was a great idea...

I purchased these thinking , oh what a great idea. Here in Hawaii, they haven't worked that well. The cardboard tends to dry very quickly, the base box fell apart. It's a novel idea, but I will continue to use the plastic seed starter sets.

    Hey Amy,

Thank you so much for this honest 2-star review of the Recycled Paper Pots For Seedlings! I really appreciate you giving them a try and sharing your experience with the Hawaii growing conditions.

You bring up some great points about how the cardboard dries out quickly and the base falling apart in your climate. Hawaii's unique environment can definitely be challenging for certain materials, and it sounds like these paper pots just weren't the right fit for your growing setup there.

I totally understand why you'd stick with what works - those plastic seed starter sets have proven themselves in your garden! Sometimes the tried-and-true methods are the best, especially when you've found something that works well in your specific conditions.

Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback - it's really helpful for other gardeners who might be considering these pots, especially those in similar climates. Your honest review helps everyone make better choices for their growing needs.

    Keep on growing 🌻️

I love these for my plants I am growing fie the spring. I won't have to worry about up-potting. Its large enough for a large green such as kale brussel sprouts or large cabbage variety.
