    Invasive, non-native

I did not realize before buying that this was european elderberry. As a non-native plant, it does not provide nearly as many benefits to the bees, birds and butterflies. It is also considered invasive in the United States so I'm a little disheartened that Epic Gardening would carry this at all.

    Hey Riley,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts in a review. We really appreciate you bringing up these important concerns about native vs. non-native plants and their impact on local ecosystems. We checked with our horticulturist ,who shared that European elderberry is not considered invasive in the United States -- while it can be an aggressive grower it is not listed on any invasive species lists, and no state bans it as an invasive. Thank you once again for your input. Keep on growing 🌻️
