Product Details

If you’ve ever enjoyed a bright, tart slice of lemon in your tea or over grilled fish, there’s a good chance it came from a Eureka Lemon. This is California’s go-to commercial lemon—and for good reason.

The Eureka Lemon Tree is a strong grower with a generous fruiting habit, producing its heaviest crop from fall through winter, plus bonus lemons throughout the year. This perfectly sized tree fits beautifully in a sunny yard or patio container, and with light pruning, it’s easy to keep neat and compact.

Why You'll Love It

  • Vigorous & Versatile: Grows 10–15' in the ground or 6–8' in pots
  • Year-Round Flavor: Main harvest in fall-winter, with some fruit year-round
  • Indoor-Friendly: Perfect for pots in Zones 4–7—just bring it inside for winter
  • Low-Maintenance Beauty: Fewer thorns, easy to espalier, and self-fertile
  • Kitchen Staple: Classic tart juice and aromatic zest for cooking, baking, and drinks

Care and Maintenance

Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.

Fertilizing: Use a citrus-specific fertilizer every 6 weeks during the growing season.

Pruning: Prune in late winter after fruiting to shape and remove dead branches.

Pollination: The Eureka Lemon is self-fertile, which means it doesn’t need a pollination partner to produce fruit. However, if it’s indoors, giving the blossoms a gentle shake or using a soft paintbrush to transfer pollen can boost fruit set.

Harvesting: Its main harvest happens from fall through winter, but you’ll likely spot bonus lemons throughout the year. That means almost anytime is lemon time—perfect for squeezing into drinks or zesting over dinner.

Planting Care

Soil: Well-draining, sandy loam soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5.

Mature size: In the ground, it can stretch up to 10–15 feet tall, but when grown in a pot, expect a tidy 6–8 feet with regular pruning. It’s ideal for patios, balconies, or tight garden spots—and easy to shape to fit your space.

Climate: If temps dip below 32°F in your area, grow it in a container and move it inside for winter. Make sure it gets 8+ hours of sunlight a day, and avoid placing it near cold drafts or heat vents. It’ll go semi-dormant indoors but bounce back come spring.

Location: Full sun, at least 6-8 hours daily.

Watering: Water deeply once a week.

Pruning: Prune in late winter after fruiting to shape and remove dead branches.

Fertilizer: Use a citrus-specific fertilizer every 6 weeks during the growing season.
