Care and Maintenance

Watering: For the first year, water weekly, ensuring the soil stays moist but not soggy. Mature trees need about 1 inch of water per week.

Fertilizing: In early spring, apply a balanced fertilizer (e.g., 10-10-10) according to package instructions. Avoid fertilizing after mid-summer.

Pollination: D'Anjou pear trees are not self-pollinating. Plant a compatible pear variety like Bartlett or Bosc nearby for cross-pollination.

Harvesting: Harvest in late September to October when the fruit is firm but mature. Pears ripen off the tree, so pick them before they fully soften.

Planting Care

Soil: Loosen the soil to a depth of 12-18 inches. Add compost or well-rotted manure to enrich the soil.

Location: Choose a sunny spot with well-draining soil. D'Anjou pears need at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

Watering: Water deeply right after planting.
