We ordered the four pack of the 29" tall extra large beds, as well as two of the 15" tall beds. All in the slate grey color. The are working great for us - first season with them. They are sturdy and we believe they'll hold up for years to come. We are planning on purchasing many more! It is SO easy to weed and tend to these extra tall beds. I'm so pleased!
Assembly wasn't too bad - It's helpful to have an extra set of hands.

Decided to combine an entry portal with an arch/trellis. This is early, so most of the planting hasn’t emerged, but the main purpose is to provide a trellis for beans, squash, and cucumbers. The extra space is being filled by a small blueberry bush, radishes, and carrots. Lets me better control the pH for the blueberries, and I expect them to crowd out the companions as the years pass, and they provided extra stability for an archway that was none too stable (it was supposed to sit on the ground and be anchored by tent stakes, 15+” of soil is a big improvement on that. They’re just the right size to fit the “gateway” between the horseradish and the flowers. Perfect solution! (Now if only I can defeat the invasion of wild carrots that came out of nowhere to take on my horseradish…..)

We wanted to transform an awkward side yard into a productive space. We did grow bags for a while and the decided to completely rework the area and add some raised beds. We went with the extra tall since the soil had been covered with asphalt for 60+ years and wasn’t fit to grow in. We wanted lots of room for roots l to spread out and a healthy microbiome to develop. The height also has the added benefit of being comfortable to work in and it keeps the skunks from digging around (a big problem elsewhere in our yard). The kits were very easy to assemble with clear instructions. The quality of everything is great. We started with 2 medium and 1 small bed, but I think we’ll be adding 2 or 3 more beds in the near future. I like that I can configure them to fit my needs and space. The only downside to these tall beds is filling them up! We looked at other brands, but appreciated that Birdies are the original modular metal garden bed are they are actually manufactured by the company and not outsourced. We also trust the service and support Epic offers by buying through them. There are lots of good deals throughout the year if you have time to be patient, but even at full price they are worth it.

After almost 10 years of not gardening, this bed and a few others are an easy way for me to try-enter growing food and flowers. I put the 3x4 and a 4x8 by myself while my husband was on a trip! Putting them in close quarters with a little bit of wire fencing on t-posts is keeping the deer away. I'm collecting rotting alder logs to start filling my 4th bed. I got a bit of a late start but so far I'm really pleased.
