My epic 4” 4 cell tray is Amazing
It’s a bit pricey, but it’s a keeper so it’s worth the extra coin.
I wish a bottom tray came with the 16 pk though

These Cherokee Purple that we seed harvest did amazing in the 4 tray. Thanks.
Michael C.
The 4" 4 cells are great. Germinated zucchini in them and just did my split into additional cells. The root balls separated easily, where nicely pruned with the roots spiking out instead of curled in the cell.
I've been happy with my 6 cells but these 4 cells work so much better for the larger seeds/ plants. This should making potting up a breeze and give some real healthy plants for transplanting. I can see that 16 might not be enough but is there a such a thing as having enough...
Lucinda S.
I got the 6 cell first and loved them. When the bigger size came out, I was excited to try it. I LOVE my new trays! Excellent quality, purchased more and I’m recommending them to my gardening friends.
Winnie M.
This 4 cell tray is really great with the 4” height as it allows for better growth for the larger seedlings you want to grow. Compared to the smaller 6 cell trays, these really are much larger and offers much more room for growth. The material is extra sturdy and tough - doubt these will ever break. I’m so glad I bought them as soon many of my seedlings have germinated and are ready for transplanting.
Casey K.
The 4 cells have helped standardize and simplify the way I'm growing seedlings. Things are much more organized now!
Trisha S.
I started these peppers in the Epic 6-cell, and they grew better than they ever have with other methods. I moved them to the 4-cells and there is already a little bud! I’m totally sold on both the 6-cells and 4-cells.
Daisy Mae V.
The 4” tall Epic-4 has lots of room for growing on tomatoes and chilli peppers. I would also be inclined to use them for starting squash and broad beans.
I really like the sturdiness of these planting cells. And the holes which promote air pruning of the roots.
Best of all, I can use them even if I am only starting a few seeds.
The Epic-6 is a great size for smaller plants. Same great quality.
James A.
Love the new 4 inch deep 4 cell trays to accompany my current 6 cell trays! Now to make more tomatoes and peppers! Do wish there was a little QR code piece of paper in the box to take me directly to the product description in YouTube so I filled them right the first time.
Brandon F.
I love my epic 6-cells so no surprise that I love the 4" deep 4-cells as well. Another outstanding product from the Epic Gardening team!
Laura B.
Love these. I had already gotten the 6 cell trays and they were just as sturdy as I had hoped. I have been looking for something like this for a while so was excited to find not only a source for them but also USA made ones.
I will say that since I’m using the 4 inch 4 cells to seed start things I know will need to be in pots a bit longer (I’m still preparing the bed these things will go into but wanted to get the seeds going) I am a bit frustrated that I can’t find a humidity dome to fit well over there or maybe a drip tray tall enough to use with the humorist domes I have. This is more a request for some sturdy and appropriately sized drip tray and humidity dome than a criticism of the 4 cell tray though.
Highly recommend!
Thomas C.
I absolutely love them. I need to get more.
Stephanie C.
FANTASTIC quality that I can use season after season probably forever. Love it!
Deborah K.
The peppers and tomatoes I potted up into the 4 inch 4 cell trays are larger and more vigorous than the ones I put into peat pots to give to a friend. Also, the poppies and snapdragon I potted up went gangbusters once in these, thanks to having lots of room for taproots. They're very sturdy, with plenty of drainage. I think I'll need a set of the 3 inch for next year.
Elizabeth S.
I absolutely love these 4 cell trays! I decided to go with these as my seedlings needed to be upgraded into a bigger size. After using these, and seeing how much easier they are compared to the flimsier varieties, I will soon be purchasing some six cells as well! They are super sturdy and I’m happy to not have to buy throw-away cells in the future. It’s nice to have quality trays that will undoubtedly last for years to come!
Amia J.
These are awesome, ergonomic and soooo convenient, yet even better- REUSABLE! I'm probably going to get more when I move to a bigger plot to garden even more goodies. This design is awesome for tomato and pepper transplants!
Rick M.
Wow I don’t know why it took so long for someone to make a seed start tray that actually works! Epic is correct! Epic 4cells. Game changer!
Isabella C.
These are very sturdy, well made, and exactly as advertised. I've always direct sown before and so two weeks ago was my first attempt at seed starting (outside). I am amazed at how quickly things came up and the very high germination rate. Turns out they do better in a controlled environment. This is a really great product and will last for years.
Rayna W.
I'm loving the sturdiness of these cell packs, they are super easy to work with and I know they will be around for many years. And as you can see the seedlings are extremely happy!
Michael K.
These are great containers. They fit perfectly in a 1020 tray and noticeably improve root structure in health. You will see it immediately when you pot up. They are very strong and well constructed. I could not be happier with the product.
Tamara K.
Way better roots
Nicholas B.
Love them. Great quality. Tough
Janine M.
Really love this product. Bought the 6 cell trays and was so impressed with the quality that I bought the 4 cell trays as well. Simply exceeded my expectations. Have raised the first generation of seedlings and re-employed these right back to support the second generation of seedlings. They support plant/seedling growth perfectly and wow - the root growth is amazing! No regrets! Best purchase ever! Above is my pink celery started in the six cell and potted on into the 4 cell.
Hayley D.
Worth every penny! I’ve never had seedlings germinate as quickly as they do in these. The quality is incredible and they will last me many years to come. Looking forward to purchasing more in the future!
Melinda R.
I love this product and I'm pretty sure they will lasts for years to come.
Mary R.
Not your flimsy one-time-use cell packs! My seedlings are loving their new home, and I believe it's the extra oxygen getting to their roots via the slits on the sides. The large opening on the bottom of the cells will make it easy when potting on or transplanting. Super happy with my purchase.
Megan A.
Would recommend to everyone! Made planting so easy and ate great quality! They were awesome to replace a broken tray when it came broken shipping!
Moriah W.
Up potted some tomatoes in the 3 inch cells. So far loving them. My only complaint is they didn't fit properly in a mesh style bootstrap farmer tray. Not a big deal though, they are perfect in the regular tray. Watering hasn't been an issue. This system is soo much easier than my random pots last year. Will definitely try to get the 4 inch cells for next year.
John James V.
This is what my empty seedling trays looked like without the Epic 4 cell 4” trays that I just ordered…will be waiting impatiently for them to arrive and fill them with all the Summer goodness they will help bring. Thanks Kevin and team for making them available again!
Kira M.
Fantastic! Love them and highly recommend them
Leslie M.
These things are so smart it’s stupid! What an improvement over flimsy starter pots, or those pricey peat pots that seem tough for roots to grow through or thrive in. I prefer this size to the small starter trays, so I don’t have to up pot so soon, but I’m blessed for space and know that’s not everyone’s situation. Kevin teased a crazy gizmo to make up potting easy into these 3” guys, so I may come to change my mind when that comes out. I digress. I love these trays. They are strong, but designed so well they do a great job of managing moisture (holding it in a little better than the peat pots do) and air (the design allows roots to breathe). It is also great to be able to see the roots and check plant health. By contrast the plants that I still have in the peat pots, I have come and go problems like fungus gnats because it is hard to manage moisture, and I can’t see how the roots are doing. I also have flowers in standard nursery six packs that aren’t doing as well as they could be for lack of airflow. The things I have in these trays purchased here on epic gardening.com, are all doing very well. I only regret I didn’t order them before starting my seeds for the season. I also regret that they seem to be chronically out of stock of the deeper depth of these awesome pots, I want to get my hands on some of those!
Darren C.
These trays are great for transplanting - pruned roots and easy removal with the hole on the bottom. Heavy duty plastic trays that should last a long time.
Robert L.
Awesome seed cells so happy to have them. They really make it easer to work with transplants.
Frances T.
Started everything in the 6 cells, potted up to the 4 cell. Fits extremely well in a 1020 tray. Now I’m potting up to 3” and 4” grow bags I’m sewing myself. Highly recommend the epic seed starting cells! Next year I’m going to start the tomatoes in the 4 cell since they get so big so fast.
Star N.
I am so thrilled with my new pots! I am using them to grow flowers for cutting (cosmos, zinnias, scabiosa and helichrysum). The 3" depth is perfect for these and the size makes them easy to handle. I am very happy with the quality of the plastic. We are a small farm, so I thought long and hard before ordering these, but since I am trying hard to reduce our plastic consumption they are worth every penny. They seem really strong and I hope to have years (decades?) of use out of them. Thank you for a great product.
David E.
Awesome produce super durable and great size
Matthew C.
These things are the sturdiest 4 cells I have found. Hands down.
Debi H.
I had already started our veggies in some trays & solo cups, so didn’t plant in them yet! But I know I’ll love them after using other ways & running into poor plants etc. Thanks, I’ll send a picture when I do plant in them for sure.
Mildy W.
Love the new bigger 4 cell trays. No need to transplant seedlings, great root development and so sturdy I will be able to use these for years.
Marcus C.
Very well made, probably the last ones I'll ever need.
Holly G.
Epic 6-pack and 4 packs are my go to for seed starting. These are so easy to move around and handle. I am so glad i found them!
Melinda R.
Loved the products. Did not like the long shipping wait.
Alex W.
The quality is amazing! Can't wait to fill them up and use them year after year.
Kenneth A.
High Quality, good price, great content.
Charles S.
Everything as advertised. Love them
Lillian W.
They fit perfectly inside a 1020 or a 1010 tray. I’m using them for the first time to start cucumbers, squash, and zinnias. I wanted to start them in the bigger cells so that I don’t have to handle the roots too much when I transplant them out. I plan on up potting my tomatoes in them when they are ready. We aren’t hitting 50F at night yet, so up potting will be necessary.
Emily Z.
Very easy company to order through. Great quality product and I LOVE the ease of getting the plugs out after they are ready to transplant. These are a must have!!
Jennifer M.
Great size for seedings that I want to size up before placing outside!
Jennifer V.
I purchased the 6-cell trays last year and the 4-cell trays this year to round out the set. They have both been great! You can see in the photo of my solanum plants that they fit into the standard 10x20 nursery tray and can even be mixed and matched (I have the different sizes together to easily harden them off at similar rates). I am looking forward to using the 4-cell trays for my squash and cucumber seedlings as they outgrew the 6-cell trays very rapidly last year. Thanks for making awesome stuff!
Rebecca M.
So happy with my purchase! These will last me for a lifetime.
Savoyia Y.
These are super sturdy just like the 6-cell trays. The size also saves me one potting up step with my tomatoes and peppers. They definitely will last for years to come!
Jeff H.
The best trays ever. 6 cell for mass plantings. 4 cells for smaller plantings. Get them all!
Barb M.
Love, love, love the 6-cells... and I love, love, love the new 4-cells too!
Michael C.
Never started sugar snap peas or spinach in trays before but these cells seemed like ticket.
Cory F.
The perfect tray to pot up from the 6 cell seed trays! Or to start larger seedlings. As a container gardener with limited space these are invaluable.
rita m.
As of writing this review, I have started seed starting...
So far, I love the four-cell, 3” trays; they fit perfectly in the bootstrap framer 1020 trays and domes. I also love that I can combine the 4-cell and 6-cell in the same tray.
Tracy C.
Peanuts are growing fab! I also have the 6 cell trays in this picture that are the perfect size for starting my pepper seedlings! I will not ever use the flimsy plug pots again, and will order more of these 4 cells in the future. both sizes are sturdy and well-draining. I expect to pop out the plants easily once they are redy to repot and go into my greenhouse. Awesome products!
Ronald S.
These epic 4 cell trays are perfect for starting big seed types and for my climate zone 6, I can start seeds like peppers and tomatoes earlier and they can stay in the trays longer. love these trays!
Tina b.
I have the 4 and the 6 cell. Love them both! Going to order more
Ron W.
Potting up Ohio Spiderwort plants in the 3” reusable tray that were started from seed in the reusable 6-cell tray. Happy to not have to buy disposable plastic trays over and over!
Gabriela G.
Great for tomatoes that develop their roots quick
Nadine S.
Love these 4 cell seed starting trays. Nice size and very sturdy.
DANIEL G.
I wasn't sure if this size was large enough and was going to wait for the 4" size, I'm glad i didn't! They are perfect for when you want to start in larger volumes.
Karna B.
I love these trays. They make it easy to give plants the right amount of moisture, and make it easy to remove the plants when it is time to move them to the next container.
Angela E.
These are excellent. I love using them for potting up my seedlings. Will buy again!!
Summer M.
Well made. Will last a lifetime. I bought a set for my dad and a set for me!
I purchased these as I loved the epic 6 cell seed starter trays, so these are perfect to transition or start plants that need larger space to begin!
Looking forward to using them this season!
Nick D.
These are great. Theo only issue I have with them is that the collar at the top leads to a bit of root circling in the top inch. I think they could do some kind of design improvement to either let the roots out, or force them downward in the corners. That way they would go toward the openings and get air pruned. But overall, they're great to use and extremely sturdy.
Jessica T.
So far so good! Actually, about to order more.
Jacob K.
I love the Epic Six and Four Cells! Robust to hold up to moving the trays around instead of crinkling and crumbling. Easy to get starts out without crushing the cells. The slits up the sides are great for healthy root structure and the cells function flawlessly with a bottom watering techinique. Highly recommend a few sets of these for anyone that hates repurchasing equipment that can't hold up over multiple seasons.
Mark H.
-1 outside and snowing, Just put a tray of Brussel Sprouts together to get them started. The 4 cell starting pots are great and just fit inside the tray and the dome still covers all of them. Very heavy duty seed starting pots, these should last for years! Very happy! I would recommend them to anyone looking for high quality gardening gear.
Sameena A.
I had been waiting for these to be available because I love the 6 cell ones that I purchased so much. They did not disappoint! They are the same excellent quality as the 6 cell and have great drainage. Now I have to wait to get my hands on the 4in ones.
shawn c.
I have ordered from the epic gardening team several times. My first shipment got delivered to the wrong address, but the customer support was quick to help, even though it was UPS that messed up. All other orders have been seamless and I am very satisfied with the quality of the product.
