Queeny Lime Orange Zinnia Seeds

The queeny lime zinnias are very beautiful! We started the seeds inside in early Spring, and planted the seedlings outside in late Spring. At first, the zinnias did sprout, but each plant only had one or two flower buds. It was disappointing, but, now that late Summer is here, the flowers took off and look absolutely beautiful! The colors really remind me of Fall and are more unique than any other flower we grew this year.

I ordered four different zinnia varieties and this is the first to bloom. Looking at other pictures, I think the flower has not yet matured, but the intricacy of the tiny stars surrounding the center just captured my heart. Growing them, though, was not such a pleasure. I read all the comments about waiting until it warms up to sow zinnia seeds, so I started them in my warm basement under lights, but none of them were happy. As they grew, the leaves got all puckery, but they kept trying to grow. Now that they’re in the warm soil, basking in the sunshine they demand, they’re flourishing! Next year, I’ll wait to direct sow.
