Product Details

This treasured, heirloom wildflower, native to the eastern U.S., is a long-lived perennial that blooms for a month or more beginning in midsummer. The pinkish-purple petals of the stunning, daisy-like flowers surround a large, dark brown cone. Petals begin to droop as the cone enlarges and fills with seeds, which attract birds in the fall and winter. Echinacea grows well in a variety of conditions, and is excellent for borders and water-wise gardens. Perfect for fresh cut flowers.

Cold stratified seeds from February-March, seeded in trays in April 2023 and planted out in garden in June. The plants just grew their basal leaves the first year, and started really taking off summer of 2024. It’s now the end of August and they are HUGE and really taking off! The pollinators absolutely adore them and they really are low maintenance handling severe heat, draught, and high desert conditions beautifully. Thanks BI for the great seed!

Seedlings grew very well in a pot in July. I lost a few seedlings early in the growth cycle due to insects and squirrels, but the remaining are hardy. I will be transplanting these soon!
