Also known as agastache, lavender hyssop, and licorice mint, this heirloom is loved by hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. With a minty, anise/licorice flavor, it is as useful in the kitchen as it is beautiful. The leaves and flowers make a refreshing, fruity tea, and can be added to salads. The lavender-blue flower spikes are lovely in fresh floral arrangements or dried bouquets. Perennial in USDA zones 4-8. Fairly drought tolerant once established.

I planted this last year in late spring I believe so it didn’t really get a chance to shine but this spring into summer it really exploded and full of honey bees and the yellow hammer/yellow goldfinch really like them

I planted three or four bushels of these. Throughout my garden they got about 4 ft tall which I was surprised. Their Bloom rate has been weeks now and they're only getting better with time. I winter sowed these and had a great germination rate. The bees also adore them.

The anise hyssop has been a hit with the kids since it brings pollinators around every day! It also helps the other plants we have in our small garden. I will definitely grow these again. The seeds had 100% germination rate for us.

Did both a winter sow and traditional indoor sow after cold stratification and had good germination with both. Seedlings are looking happy. Picture of winter sown jug in April zone 7b.

I winter sowed these in a milk jug in January and they were one of the earliest to germinate among all my seeds! Nearly every seed sprouted and by March they were busting at the seams to be let loose. They have a wonderful licorice scent even before blooming. Very pleased.
