I got these in spring 2025 to protect my seedlings and young transplants from the myriad of bunnies & squirrels around my yard & garden. They also protect them from the high winds we get in north Texas during spring and fall (if staked down with small landscape staples). I liked them so much I bought two more packs and honestly need another pack or two now that I've added more flower beds. They haven't rusted at all for me, even with all the crazy weather and high heat we get here. They are a little challenging to get off after you've stacked them and you definitely need gloves to do that. Otherwise handling them with bare hands is fine.
These have been out of stock for what seems like a year, so I had to make some makeshift ones from hardware cloth from a big box home & garden store. I used them to protect my sweetpea seedlings, so I didn't need the top 'lid' part anyway, but working with hardware cloth for this type of project is not fun in general, so I will gladly buy these again when they come back in stock.

We're so happy to hear our Critter Cage Plant Protectors have been such a game changer for protecting your seedlings and transplants from all those bunnies and squirrels! It's fantastic that they're holding up so well in that intense north Texas heat and weather without any rusting. We love that you found they work great for wind protection too when staked down - that's such a smart use! It sounds like they've been so effective that you've expanded your flower beds and need even more protection now, which is a wonderful problem to have. We really appreciate your patience during the long out-of-stock period and are thrilled you found our cages so much easier to work with than making your own from hardware cloth. Thank you for choosing us and for sharing this detailed review about how versatile and durable these protectors have been for you. Keep on growing 🌻️

These critter cages sliced up my hands pretty good trying to get them separated. I don't know which is more effective at deterring critters: the physical barrier, or getting pieced up! Be sure to wear thicker gloves when handling these cages!

While I plan to use the critter cages to deter some hungry bunnies that got into my Swiss Chard, I also have used one in an alternative way that has been very beneficial for me…and might help someone else out. My mother has an older home with a basement. It has a small drain outside the basement door. While I try to keep this cleaned out so the basement will not flood, that is a real problem when the leaves begin to fall. I took one of the critter cages and put it over the original small drain (giving it so much more room for leaves to fall, and not get in the drain), and it worked wonderfully as soon as I used it. We’ve had no more hard rain since then, but I feel it just may be the solution to my problem. I put a rock on top to hinder a cat (or anything) from blowing/knocking it over. Thanks so much for helping to solve two problems!!

I bought some of these cages last year and really loved them, no notes. I came back and bought more before my season went into full swing. The value is good and getting a pack of ten at a time was helpful for me. Some of mine started to rust in less than a year. While inevitable it’s somewhat inconvenient so soon after purchase. Also it’s kind of a bummer that they changed the shape. It can be nice to have a bit more space at the top but the new design is much more difficult to stack and unstack. It would make sense to give customers a choice between shapes when buying. If I buy more frost blanket covers which cages will they fit?

Rabbits have been destroying my phlox. Finally got these and the phlox is finally starting to make a come back. Would be 5 stars if they include something to stake them down. Landscape staples word just fine.
