Cloves per bulb: 9-10
Chesnok is Russian for garlic, and 'Chesnok Red' is also known as 'Shvelisi,' which refers to its origin near Shvelisi in the former Republic of Georgia. This heirloom cultivar has bright purple streaks and blotches on the bulbs and contains 9–10 easy-to-peel cloves, also with purple-striped skins. Its robust flavor and buttery texture hold up well during cooking, and it is well-rated for baking or roasting. Stores 4 to 6 months.
Due to state restrictions, we cannot ship garlic to Idaho, Hawaii, and the following counties in Washington—Adams, Benton, Franklin, Grant, and Klickitat (including cities such as Othello, Pasco, Moses Lake, Kennewick, and Richland). Please do not order garlic if you live in one of these locations.

This was my first time planting garlic. The cloves have that beautiful coloring inside. I would love to try this variety again and adjust my watering/feeding to make the bulbs more consistent. The scapes were yummy too!

I ordered this garlic because Becky of Acre Homestead spoke of it. As I watched her harvest scapes, and prepare them to eat, I thought I'd like to try that. ( I ordered 2 varieties). I have planted the red chesnook variety a bit late. Waiting for the first heavy frost. Instead of reading your email. 😕
I also ordered a soft neck variety Super White, that one hasn't gotten outside yet. Some of the cloves have cracked. I had left them in the box too long 😥 these things were obviously on me. I'm not trying to shirk the responsibility on to you. I'll know better next time. The garlic I ordered was way too pricey to make the mistakes I've already made. The shipping,I should say was what sent it over the top... I digress, but it's all inclusive.

all the bulbs that I planted of the hardneck are growing beautifully! I think. This is my first time to raise garlic and a gardening friend of mine told me that garlic has always been her bane here in West Texas. So, far they look great! I can't wait till they are ready to harvest!
