    FAQ

    Q: Are the beds bottomless?

A: Yes. That means no drainage holes to worry about, and the soil gets to touch the ground, so you end up with superior, microbe-rich soil and healthier plants.

Q: Can I place the beds on hard surfaces such as concrete?

A: If you're placing your GardenBox on pavers, concrete, tiles, a porch, or anything you don't want to stain, it’s better to add a bed liner or geotextile fabric. Go ahead and place your box in position, then put the fabric on the bottom of the bed from the inside. Run any excess fabric up each side and then fill your bed with soil. The fabric allows water to drain freely, but it keeps soil from messing up your floor.

Optional: To really protect the surface, place thick builder's plastic down before putting your bed into position. Once the bed is filled, any excess plastic can be trimmed around the edge of the garden bed with an Exacto knife.

Q: What are the benefits of raised bed gardening?

A: Raised bed gardening reduces pest and weed pressures, elevates the garden to a slightly more comfortable working level, and is a great way to guarantee you have quality soil to grow in.

Q: What can I grow in my GardenBox?

A: Pretty much anything. We’ve got some ideas to get you started, but really, the sky’s the limit.

Q: How long will the GardenBox last?

A: This bed’s built to stand the test of time, and with a little care and some waterproof seal, stain, or paint, it’ll be with you for years to come. It also comes with a one-year guarantee.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Raised bed gardening reduces pest and weed pressures, elevates the garden to a slightly more comfortable working level, and is a great way to guarantee you have quality soil to grow in.

Yes. That means no drainage holes to worry about, and the soil gets to touch the ground, so you end up with superior, microbe-rich soil and healthier plants.

This bed’s built to stand the test of time, and with a little care, it’ll be with you for years to come. It also comes with a one-year guarantee.

They are all designed to fit perfectly with the Epic GardenBox raised bed 47” x 31”.

This cold frame lets you plant sooner in the spring, shields your plants from pests and bad weather in spring & summer, helps the soil reach certain temps & humidity levels (dependent on where you live), extends your growing season when the weather cools, and allows you to protect the roots of temperature-sensitive, dormant plants in your above-ground beds.

It’s an easy way to safely keep birds (and other larger insects) out of your garden beds. They will steal your seeds, seedlings, fruit, and veggies, if given the chance, and this design keeps them out but won’t harm them in any way.

You get to plant earlier and grow later, extending your growing season on both ends. Basically, it’s like climate control for your raised garden bed.

When you don’t have the room for the fruits, veggies, or flowers you want, trellising climbing plants makes the most of your vertical space—giving you much more room to grow. It’s also a great way to play around with design elements inside your garden, as they really do add visual appeal.

      Arrived with multiple cracks

I opened my box today excited to begin gardening, but it arrived with multiple cracks in the wood planks. I’m disappointed because for the price you wouldn't expect the wood to have one, much less multiple, cracks.

      Gardening in Winter!

I've wanted this garden box for several months so when it went on sale I had to get it. It was easy to assemble, and I already have planted some plants in it. I live in California, and the weather is still decent but it's getting colder, so I wanted to be prepared for the upcoming cold weather. I won't have to spend a ton of money all at once; I can stager my plant purchasing into this coming Spring.

      My First Garden Box

Restarting a strawberry bed and have found these to be perfect! I prefer to grow in the ground but birthdays have made me reconsider all the tiller and back breaking work ;) So far so good! I'll probably order more.

nice beginner garden bed at sale price

It's my first year gardening and I wanted something small and simple to start. I think for the sale price, I'm very happy with it, but can understand the frustration from people that paid full price for what it is.

      Pros:

-extremely simple and easy to set-up; literally took me five minutes

      Cons:

-One of the four sides was slightly off and I couldn't get the bottom metal slots to line-up correctly. Ended up bending one of the pins trying to get it to go through (I wasn't even using any tools)

      Hey miss,

Thank you so much for this helpful 4-star review and for sharing your first-year gardening experience with the GardenBox! It's wonderful to hear that you found it simple and easy to set up - five minutes is pretty impressive for your first garden bed assembly!

I really appreciate you mentioning both the pros and the honest feedback about the alignment issue with one of the sides. That kind of detailed input helps us improve our quality control and also gives other new gardeners realistic expectations about the setup process. Sorry about that bent pin during assembly - those little hiccups can definitely be frustrating when you're just trying to get everything lined up properly.

I'm glad the GardenBox is helping you get started on your gardening journey. There's nothing quite like that first season of growing your own plants!

      Keep on growing 🌻️

      Hesitant but relieved!!

I was worried about the quality of these after reading the reviews. But at such a good price and one of the few options within my budget, I went forward and purchase these. And I am so happy I did! These are really simple to put together, I did it all myself didn’t even need a helping hand. Simple, sturdy, and they look nice. I bought nine garden boxes in total and have had no issues whatsoever.
