Gherkins are tiny cucumbers used for pickles, and these are the best; seedless, bitter-free, and uniform in shape. Use as small as 1½" long, or up to 4" for making excellent sweet pickles, French cornichons ("little horns"), or for fresh use. Plants are vining at up to 72"; grow against a trellis or fence for support.

When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 1 to 2 weeks after your average last frost date, and when soil temperature is at least 60°F, ideally 70°–90°F.

Harvesting: Pick, and pick some more! Overly mature cucumbers on the vine will slow production of new cucumbers. Cut the stem rather than pulling at the fruit, as stems are fragile. To increase the quality and storage time, once picked, immediately immerse in cold water to disperse "field heat".

Once Hokus takes off it doesn’t stop rewarding you with tiny gherkin after gherkin. This seed did not disappoint. Excellent germination too.

Not sure what went wrong. Pretty good germination but omg they tasted so bad. Acidic maybe? Didnt matter if harvested small or big. Consistent watering throughout. Could not eat them even soaked in water and vinegar. Nothing helped.

Purchased these cucs due to the advertised "parthenocarpic" variety. Unfortunately, the plant is thriving but producing male flowers only. No fruit.

These germinated well and had an incredible number of flowers on them. Not as many cucumbers as I would've expected for the number of flowers,but a plant can only support so much fruit. Grew well up and over the top of our cattle panel arched trellis (so at least 8 feet). My intent was to use for sweet gherkin but every one of this variety shrank up (looked mummified) during the brining process. Ended up not even canning the batch- used them refrigerated instead. They tasted fine, but as the second round of fruit came on and we hit high 90 temps they turned incredibly bitter- even as small, young fruit. (Less than 3") . The hairy spikes on these are rather a nuisance too- won't be buying this variety again.
