Product Details

A 1950s heirloom, 'Ace 55' has excellent, fresh tomato flavor and is a lower-acid tomato. An old favorite for canning, 5"–6" diameter, 6–8 ounce fruits are just the right size to quarter and pack into jars. Yields are exceptional; as a determinate type, the majority of the fruits ripen over a 1 to 2 week period. In areas with a long growing season, sow in succession.

    I received these seeds as part of a warm weather bundle from Greenstalk. All seeds germinated and grew very well. I think they push the limit of what a greenstalk pocket can hold (the fruit was so heavy the supports I had started to sag at its peak) but otherwise did fine. The first few fruits had some blossom end rot but it seemed to quickly resolve itself. Tomatoes were nice and mild and I'm already planning on growing more.

    Planted seeds in Epic 16 cell on January 16th (live in Florida) within a week 100% germination (had on Epic heating mat and under grow light) As soon as they had first true leaves up potted to Epic 4 cell. February 15 up potted again and started hardening off. First week in March transplanted to garden. Some in 5 gallon containers some in ground. All as you can see are doing fantastic! No pests, wilt or diseases! Have not had any ripen yet will update on taste when I do.

    The plant itself is now as tall as me and I have so so many tomatoes on it. Definitely recommend growing, it’s a beautiful Tomato. Thick flesh. The plant definitely needs a lot of support because of how heavy the tomatoes are.

    With our wet and windy weather have had to plant multiple times. Have seedlings started in seed starter QYO Light along with my grow lights and trays in garage. Waiting for weather to level out.

    This is my first year growing Ace 55 tomatoes and they are coming in nicely I planted them in mid February and they are just starting to flower at the beginning of May. All the seeds sprouted that I planted into seed trays. I live in USDA zone 6.
