Jade' is a favorite of gardeners for its consistently long, straight, stringless pods that are tender and sweet with a beautiful, dark green color. Upright, bushy plants hold the pods high, avoiding tip rot. In addition to being very productive, plants are more heat and cold tolerant than other types, are resistant to bean common mosaic viruses 1 and NY15, and tolerant to curly top virus and rust.

When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 1 to 2 weeks after your average last frost date, and when soil temperature is at least 65°F, ideally 70°–85°F. Successive Sowings: Every 7 to 14 days up to 80 days before your average first fall frost date. NOTE: In very hot summer areas, skip sowing as high heat approaches; temperatures consistently above 90°F will prevent beans from forming.

Growing Info
Harvesting: Snap beans are ready to pick when the pod "snaps" or breaks in half cleanly. This is when the seeds have just begun to form and the pods are several inches long (depending on the variety). Hold the stem with one hand, and the pod with the other hand to avoid pulling off branches, which will continue to produce. At season's end, plants are great compost material if they are disease-free.

I just harvested my first round of these Jade beans. I have about 10 bean bushes and they produced a pound of beans which I shared with relatives and neighbors. This is my first time growing these and I will grow these again in the spring.

This is the first time I have grown beans and am growing them in my fall/winter garden in Atlanta (7a). My neighbor said "no way!" you won't get beans to grow in the fall/winter. Well, proved him wrong! These beans are very "bush" like and grow upright in a strong manner with no need to stake the plants. I direct seeded these Sept 1st and 2 months later I am harvesting beautiful sweet beans.

These Jade Bush Beans have very fragile branches, but oh man, are they delicious! I have accidentally broken two branches just by bumping into them. I learned for next year to not put them on the edge of my raised bed! I've gotten two harvests so far in Zone 9b during late October and I planted in early September, equalling about 40-45 days to harvest. The plants show no signs of slowing down and still have plenty of beans still forming and flowers still blooming. These beans sauteed are so good, I can't wait to plant them again next year in droves. Side note, the flowers look similar to snap dragons and are so cute! I planted 20 seeds and had about 18 sprout, so great quality seeds.

I tried six types of beans this year and, while ALL from Botanical Interests did well, Jade was by far the most healthy, prolific and beautiful beans. They are huge. An adjacent variety struggled, but not JADE! The plants are healthy and the beans are perfect, tasty and grew so well!
