Goldy Honey Bear has thick, multi-branching stalks that stay upright without staking. Green centers are revealed as the 5"–7" flowers open. As they mature, the blooms become fully double, solid gold, and surrounded by sun-like ray petals. In ideal conditions, these nearly pollenless flowers may grow so large that just one will fill an entire vase! Long-blooming display for a flower border, hedge, or screen. You may even recognize these unique sunflowers from Vincent van Gogh's famous Sunflowers paintings! Sunflowers are edible, with a bittersweet flavor. The petals add a pretty pop of color on salads and desserts. The young, sunflower buds are edible, with a flavor similar to artichoke hearts. They can be grilled, marinated, or sauteed for an unusual appetizer or side dish.

I purchased a packet of seeds last year in July and was told i should wait to plant them the following year because of their slower growth. i kept the seed pack in the refrigerator and was excited to get these planted out this May and by far out of all of the sunflowers i planted (all seeds purchased last year) these had the worst performance, out of the 5 spots i seeded (each with 3 seeds) i had 3 seeds that germinated, 2 of which were eaten by Army worms. the sole survivor grew quite slowly compared to my other sunflowers and apparently was quite tasty to the stink bugs, when it did finally bloom it was shaded out so it was quite puny and sad looking. I just planted the remaining seeds in 3 spots and i have one sole germination and the seedling looks PITIFUL. Some of this was certainly on me and the growing conditions, but the low germination is quite sad. I’m going to buy another packet and try again because i love the look of these critters

I can confidently say that the Goldy Honey Bear Sunflowers are a standout choice! They produce an extraordinary abundance of vibrant, branching flowers that are not only eye-catching but also incredibly appealing to bees. Bloom size is 5"-7".
