The Epic Universal Bottom Tray (UBT) gives you all the benefits of bottom watering, without the mess. The completely flat underside makes it easy to wipe down, so you can spend more time growing and less time cleaning up. Designed to adapt to your setup, you can use it whether you’re seed starting, transplanting, or potting up. Built to last with high-strength, BPA-free plastic, these trays will give you years of reliable use. When you’re done, they nest neatly together for smart, easy-to-manage storage. The Epic UBT is a tough, dependable staple to add to any gardening setup. With 200 square inches of space, these are incredibly versatile and will quickly become the most used tray in your nursery.
A single UBT can fit either 12 Epic 6-Cell Seed Starting Trays, eight Epic 4-Cell Seed Starting Trays, or eight Epic 5” Cube Pots and can be used on top of a Seed Starting Heat Mat.

Simple Step-By-Step Guide To Starting Seeds At Home
Use a fine-particulate seed starting soil and pre-moisten it before filling the cell trays. Avoid chunky or woody potting blends that may create air pockets next to your planted seeds.
Be sure to follow the sowing depth instructions on your seed packet! Some seeds like to be sown deeply, while others prefer being on or barely under the soil.
A germination dome helps retain moisture in the soil. You’ll still need to water, but less often. Check regularly to ensure the soil stays evenly damp during germination and plant development.
If your seeds prefer warm soil temperatures, use our seedling heat mat to warm the soil. Our grow lights provide ideal lighting for newly germinated plants until it’s time to transplant.
Remove the germination dome when your seedlings are about an inch tall to allow for more airflow.

As long as your mix is formulated properly, it won’t fall out. Each individual cell in our Epic Trays features an air pruning side slot on all four corners to discourage root circling and encourage better root growth. The bottoms of each cell are also open providing air pruning at the lower end of each cell

I do have to say I like these trays because they are flat and easier to clean. If you are putting four packs or six packs in the trays i see no reason needing a tray that is taller. The shorter height is also a good guide to know where to fill it for bottom watering.

Super sturdy and very helpful! I use them for moving seedlings around in starter trays and for containing potting mix when I need to do some gardening indoors. It's also the perfect size to hold one (1) nosy Maine Coon who has to be involved in everything lol.
