Product Details

Summertime and corn on the cob go together. Nothing tastes better than just-picked sweet corn! 'Sugarbaby' is a bicolor corn that matures in 65 days—an advantage in areas with a shorter growing season. Flavorful, 8" ears with 12–16 rows of very tender kernels hold their sweetness and flavor longer than other varieties. Good cool weather endurance.

Growing Info

Harvesting: Corn is ready about 3 weeks after the silks appear. Harvest when the silks are brown, but not dried, and the husks are dark green; ears should be plump, and rounded rather than pointed at the tip. To test for ripeness, gently pull back the husk and pop a kernel; the liquid should be whitish; if it is still clear, ears are not quite ready.

7 10-foot rows. Planted it twice....only have a total of 12 plants. Very low germination. So disappointed.

First time trying corn in Texas. Planted 36 of these in a 5'x5' garden box. Perfect germination rate. Every plant grew a cob. About 75% ended up with good pollination. Some silks emerged a little late and missed the pollination window. Really tasty and lots of fun to grow! Companion planted with Trionfo Violetto pole beans which worked great!

I had a lovely crop with this corn. No problems with growing, bugs or sowing. Looking forward to growing it again this year.

Best corn I have ever grown or eaten. Stalks grew straight and strong. Lots of ears. Easy to tell when ready! Tender and delicious.
