Product Details

Did you know there is a fifth taste sensation? After sweet, salty, bitter, and sour, comes savory. Chefs in the 1800s named this flavor umami, which is Japanese for "delicious" or "yummy." Layers of complementary savory and spicy notes make this mix the perfect garnish for Asian dishes and meats or added to salads for an extra pop of flavor.

Mix includes: 32% Tatsoi bok choy, 32% Pac Choi cabbage, 16% Red Giant mustard, 10% Tokyo Bekana chinese cabbage, and 10% Red Streaked Mizuna mustard

Growing Info

Harvesting: When seedlings emerge, the first pair of leaves to show are the cotyledons, which can look very different from the leaves that follow, called "true" leaves. Microgreens are ready to harvest when they have cotyledons, or when the first true leaves have begun to form, depending on preference. Cool growing temperatures may slow the expected amount of days to maturity. Using scissors, cut microgreens just above the soil line when you are ready to use them.

This is my first time growing them and I am both pleased and ecstatic about the yield! They are very low maintenance and once I put another container on top and weighted it down for even growth, it created its own greenhouse and sprouted very quickly afterwards! Can’t wait to try it on various dishes.

I used these quality fast-growing seeds with my AeroGarden Harvest and the results were amazing. This mix of Asian microgreens is also very tasty and, as far as I know, this is the only site that offers this seed mix. Highly recommended.

I found out you through YouTube during the lock down. Kevin taught me exact question I was having the first time I came across. Since then, somehow he picked the exact topic I was interested in. Keep up the good work!

Your Umami mix is my favorite baby green. It grows well under grow lights in the winter and excellent outdoors on my porch when the weather warms up. The red streak mizuna and mustard adds that umami taste everyone looks for. It’s the only cut and come again mix I grow year around.
