A unique addition to your flower bed, these bright yellow puffball blossoms will give you a warm, fuzzy feeling! 'Teddy Bear' produces many 3"-5" flowers on a 24"-36" tall, multi-branching plant; beautiful as a short hedge and makes a fabulous cut flower. Sunflowers are edible, with a bittersweet flavor. The petals add a pretty pop of color ion salads and desserts. The young, sunflower buds are edible, with a flavor similar to artichoke hearts. They can be grilled, marinated, or sauteed for an unusual appetizer or side dish. Great for kids to grow due to the large seed and fast growth. Drought-tolerant once established, and attracts pollinators. Non-fussy plant blooms until fall.

So far so good! They’re growing wonderfully and putting out so many buds! I’ve never seen a sunflower like this one and they are just adorable. So fuzzy!! This is my first time growing anything from seed and the botanical interest seeds germinated very well! I’m super happy and will definitely buy again.

These were so easy to grow. I woke up one morning and it was such a lovely surprise. I prefer these to the larger ones because they flower faster and their thickness fills in more quickly. Such a great cut flower too!

That compact size is exactly what makes them perfect for containers, borders, or smaller garden spaces where you want sunflower charm without the massive height.
Teddy Bear dwarf sunflowers are typically bred to grow about 2–3 feet tall (24–36"), so reaching only 18" is on the shorter side, but not necessarily abnormal. A few factors could cause them to stay smaller. Genetics play a role, as dwarf varieties can naturally vary in size, with some topping out closer to 18" even under good conditions. Sunlight is also important—sunflowers need at least 6–8 hours of full sun daily, and less exposure means less energy for vertical growth. Root space can make a difference too; if they’re grown in a small container or crowded soil, their growth may be restricted. Water and nutrients matter as well, since too little water or poor soil fertility can stunt growth, while too much nitrogen can encourage lush leaves instead of taller stalks. Finally, environmental stressors like heat stress, inconsistent watering, or transplant shock can also limit their height.
