Product Details

A unique addition to your flower bed, these bright yellow puffball blossoms will give you a warm, fuzzy feeling! 'Teddy Bear' produces many 3"-5" flowers on a 24"-36" tall, multi-branching plant; beautiful as a short hedge and makes a fabulous cut flower. Sunflowers are edible, with a bittersweet flavor. The petals add a pretty pop of color ion salads and desserts. The young, sunflower buds are edible, with a flavor similar to artichoke hearts. They can be grilled, marinated, or sauteed for an unusual appetizer or side dish. Great for kids to grow due to the large seed and fast growth. Drought-tolerant once established, and attracts pollinators. Non-fussy plant blooms until fall.

    Hopeful for these beauties

I planted these seeds couple days after they arrived . In egg crate bowls . Only 3 sprouted from dirty and has not grown at all . Very disappointed . The other pack of sunflower seeds sprouted and are a couple inches big .

    Hey Evie,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts in a review. I cannot tell how deep the soil is in the "egg crate bowl", but I can tell that the soil in that looks very chunky and appears to have a lot of woody particulate. That might be creating air pockets next to the seeds, preventing them from staying consistently moist - and sunflower seeds need a lot of moisture to germinate and grow.

Looking at the second tray, those are approximately 3"x3" seed starting trays? If your seeds don't have that much soil and it's not a finer particulate soil, they're going to struggle - and I would suspect that looking at the packaging material from the first image, you may not have the right soil nor the right depth.

We typically do not recommend transplanting sunflowers and instead recommend direct-sowing. They form a taproot very quickly and transplanting can be a challenge; you may lose a lot of your sunflowers when they transplant if you wait too long. Please make sure to rip off the bottom of the cardboard pot to prevent the taproot from spiralling, too. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we are committed to ensuring your experience is positive. Thank you once again for your input. Keep on growing 🌻️

I absolutely adore this dwarf sunflower! It's so charming and reminds me of big, fluffy pom-poms. Plus, I was thrilled to have a perfect 100% germination rate! They love the heat and dry weather in CO.

So far so good! They’re growing wonderfully and putting out so many buds! I’ve never seen a sunflower like this one and they are just adorable. So fuzzy!! This is my first time growing anything from seed and the botanical interest seeds germinated very well! I’m super happy and will definitely buy again.
