Product Details

Each 'Mongolian Giant' plant produces a single yellow flower up to 18" across that will provide extra-large seeds filled with tasty, hearty kernels. These single-stem sunflowers attract pollinators and are very easy to grow in almost any sunny garden, although a sunflower's size is dependent on the growing conditions. They also are drought tolerant and fast growing; you can almost watch them gain an inch or more a day! Inside this packet, we've included tips on how to protect your ripening seeds from squirrels and birds, and a recipe for roasting seeds. Edible, bittersweet petals make a sunny garnish on salads and appetizer plates.

    Awesome, Awesome, Awesome

My first time growing these and they will now become a yearly ritual. I've had cars passing by stop just to tell me how amazing they look. People walking by have asked if I would take their picture in front of them. I've had so many compliments on theae giants. They've grown to 11-12' tall and the center of the flowers are about 8" . I live in zone 6b and am right on the ocean so with this years weather I didn't get to plant them until May 31st.

I had a picture taken today of me standing next to them as a reference. I'm 5'2" and look like a dwarf next to them. My sunflowers are 15' from the road on a busy little one way street .... they pretty much jump out at you as you drive by. I plan on asking everyone on my street to let me plant some in their front yards next season. All the houses on my street are about 10' from the roadway with a tiny grassy area in front of the house next to the sidewalk. Just enough room to plant them. With all 32 houses along this narrow street it will resemble Colorado Blvd.i n LA with all their tall palm trees. We will surely be the talk of the town as will you if plant these beauties in your yard as well.
