When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 2 to 4 weeks before your average last frost date, and when soil temperature is at least 45°F, ideally 60°–85°F. Successive Sowings: Every 3 weeks until 10 to 12 weeks before your average first fall frost date. In very warm climates, carrots are grown primarily in fall, winter, and spring.

Harvesting: For best flavor and texture, harvest carrots any time before, and until they reach their optimal size. Peak harvest period lasts about 3 weeks, longer in the fall. Late summer-sown carrots are sweetened after having been kissed by light frost; however, harvest before soil freezes, which may destroy the crop. In USDA zone 5 or warmer, carrots can be left in the ground for storage provided they are heavily mulched; harvest as needed on days the ground is not frozen.

This is an update to my review of April 15. The little seedling I showed you then didn't make it, so in desperation, I planted all my carrot seeds in that same pot and soil and got one peep of green from all of them. It's now a couple of inches high, but it has been as you see it now for about a month. I've moved it around the concrete patio to give it more sun, then, as the temps rose, to give it less. I'm in southeastern AZ and daytime temps here have reached in the low to mid 110s, but only for the last week. Before that they were in the low to high 90s for the last half of May. So, for the past month it's been hot, so my little carrot is getting only about 3 hours a day of direct sunlight, morning to early afternoon. I'm watering it every other day, hoping to get some sweet carrots eventually.

I hope you can see the teeny tiny sprig of carrot shoot in my photo. It is all I have gotten from the carrot seed I planted a month ago. I have kept the soil moist with daily mistings, but nothing is happening. I planted the seed at the correct depth in Epson's organic potting soil, and it is receiving 4-6 hours of sun a day. What am I doing wrong?

These are a great variety. All the seeds I showed were very successful. They are so flavorful at any stage, even before maturity. And if you let them, they will get big!! Flavor and texture were still great. My dogs LOVED these 😂. So easy to grow and delicious right out of the garden. I grew mine in a fabric grow bag.

My 8 year old granddaughter loves to plant and I got her these to try and plant indoors since she is sad for cold winter days. We will see how this works.
