Product Details

With long stems and beautiful shades of white, lilac, and blue, Isaac House Blend is outstanding in bouquets. The blossoms appear as fragile as summer snowflakes, but this is a tough, fairly drought-tolerant, very hardy plant with few pests or diseases. Scabiosa blooms for an exceptionally long time in the garden compared to other flowering perennials, and is very attractive to bees and butterflies. Dried seed heads also add interest to flower arrangements.

I was very skeptical at first because this did not flower on the first season but boy did it take off on its second season.

These are last year’s Issac House Blend Scabiosa. These germinated in about 3 days! They are doing well!

I did put several perennial seed packets in a zip bag in fridge. They say it doesn’t help unless they are in damp soil. I think it helped.

I have grown the annual version of scabiosa and wasn't a fan of it. I took a chance on this variety because I am a sucker for blue flowers. I started it from seed indoors in mid July of 2022, and l planted it out in garden early September (Zone 6B). It got established and I forgot about it all winter. It came back this spring and it has produced a handful of flowers per plant so far this season (it is first week in July 2023). I think it has to be my new favorite flower! The colors, bloom form looks so delicate, but it has long strong stems, and lasts up to 7-12 days in the vase (with frequent water changes and stem snips) too. The flower doesn't photograph true, in person it has more blueish hues, but in every photo I have taken it looks much more lavender and it does lean more towards purple but there are blue hues too. Mine isn't quite as "double" looking as the illustration but still lovely. This has to be the most surprisingly beautiful flower I grew last year, the plant itself doesn't look like much in the garden, yet anyway, but those flowers towering delicately above the plant are impressive! I ordered 2 more packets to add more to my cut flower production. Highly recommend!
