Product Details

You can grow breathtaking dahlias from seed and enjoy them year after year. This very tall blend of eye-popping colors is especially suited for the back of the garden, and the long, sturdy stems make them great for cut flowers. Blooms appear about 90 days from sowing, so you can enjoy beautiful blooms come summer. Perennial in USDA zones 7–10; in colder climates, at season's end, tubers can be lifted and stored indoors over winter. Attracts butterflies and other pollinators. Use the edible, mild-flavored petals to garnish salads, desserts, and drinks. (The flower's central disk, while edible, can be bitter.) Dahlia pinnata tubers are edible, with a flavor somewhat similar to raw jicama. The flavor of the crisp, juicy tubers is bland to mildly sweet.

Prolific blooms, bees and butterflies love them

Successfully germinated from both sowing directly in a raised bed and starting indoors two months before transplant. Beautiful blooms and prolific too, bees and butterflies visit all day. Will plant again next year!

    Hey JA,

What a fantastic review! We're absolutely thrilled to hear that your Decorative Double Blend Dahlias have been such stunning performers and are creating such a beautiful pollinator paradise in your garden!

Your growing experience sounds like it went perfectly - and how wonderful that you had success with both direct sowing and indoor starting! That really shows the versatility and reliability of these dahlia seeds. It's so smart that you tried both methods too - now you know you have options for timing and can choose whatever works best for your garden schedule each season.

We love that you're getting the full dahlia experience with those beautiful, prolific blooms! There's something so special about Decorative Double Blend Dahlias because they really deliver that classic dahlia wow factor with those full, lush double flowers in such a gorgeous variety of colors. And what makes it even better is hearing that the bees and butterflies are visiting all day long - it sounds like you've created the perfect pollinator buffet that's as beneficial as it is beautiful!

The fact that these dahlias are blooming so prolifically really speaks to how happy they are in your raised bed setup. When dahlias are thriving like that, they just keep pumping out those gorgeous flowers all season long, giving you endless cutting material and non-stop garden color.

Your experience will be so helpful for other gardeners who are considering dahlias and wondering about the best planting methods!

Thank you so much for sharing such an enthusiastic review about both the growing success and pollinator benefits!

    Keep on growing 🌻️

These were very easy to grow and came in so many beautiful colors. I saved the tubers over the winter for the colors I liked most and will plant more from seed this year to see what I get.

I had a great experience with Botanical Interests Cactus Blend Dahlia seeds last year. I am trying the Double Blend Dahlia mix this year and starting early indoors. The germination rate for my packet was 90%. Thank you so much for the great seeds! Hope to update what the flowers are like in a few months.
