Variety Info

Days to Maturity: 14–21 days

Family: Apiaceae

Type: Microgreens (Learn more)

Native: Probably Africa, but in cultivation for so long that it cannot be verified.

Hardiness: Frost-sensitive annual

Exposure: Full sun to part shade

Plant Dimensions: Harvest when first true leaves appear

Variety Info: The cilantro plant resembles flat parsley. Cilantro microgreens are best harvested and eaten when they have cotyledons and 1–2 true leaves.

Attributes: Good for Containers

Sowing Info

When to Sow Outside: Not recommended. Microgreens are fragile, and outside soil makes them difficult to clean.

When to Start Inside: RECOMMENDED. Sow indoors any time of year. For a continual crop, sow every 7 to 14 days.

Days to Emerge: 10–15 days

Seed Depth: ½"

Seed Spacing: ¼"–½"

Thinning: Not required

Growing Info

Harvesting: When seedlings emerge, the first pair of leaves to show are the cotyledons, which can look very different from the leaves that follow, called "true" leaves. Microgreens are ready to harvest when they have cotyledons, or when the first true leaves have begun to form, depending on preference. Cool growing temperatures may slow the expected amount of days to maturity. Using scissors, cut microgreens just above the soil line when you are ready to use them.

I bought a growing tray and the cilantro seeds to grow micro green cilantro. It has sprouted and I am happy. The tray is on a small table in front of a window facing northwest. I am using coconut coir as the growing medium. I also grew a little outdoors in a pot in organic potting soil on the southeast side of my house. However, the hot sunny weather here killed it. The cilantro is at least as flavorful as what I have been buying in North Carolina stores.

Hey Sherry, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts in a review. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we are committed to ensuring your experience is positive.Typically, microgreens are grown in trays with either a microgreens mat or a very thin layer of coconut coir. However, the seeds also grow fine on their own as cilantro plants. However, the ideal soil temperature for cilantro germination is 55-68 degrees, so temperatures of 80 may mean the soil is too warm for good germination. It grows best in cooler temperatures! If desired, we can provide our recommendations for growing cilantro normally, but the packet descriptions for this particular packet recommend growing these seeds as microgreens. I hope that helps. Thank you once again for your input and please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions. Keep on growing 🌻️
