Introducing Garden Sulfur, a valuable mineral additive that can lower soil pH, help improve soil characteristics, and enhance plant nutrient availability.
This essential supplement is particularly effective for addressing problematic soils, such as alkaline or saline soil conditions, which can hinder optimal plant growth. If your hydrangeas, blueberries or evergreens are not performing up to expectations, unsuitable soil pH may be the root cause. Alkaline soils (pH > 7.5) can cause nutrient deficiencies which may appear as stunted growth, yellow leaves, or other physical symptoms.
Garden Sulfur contains two essential plant nutrients: calcium & sulfur. These nutrients provide numerous benefits and are key to myriad natural chemical and biological processes in soil and plants.
Ingredients: Gypsum, Elemental sulfur

How To Use
How To Use
Apply Garden Sulfur in the spring and summer to lower soil pH. Most acid loving plants prefer a soil pH between 4.5 and 6.5. Performing a complete soil analysis (with lab recommendations) or using a soil pH home test kit before application is encouraged. If you do not know your soil pH, use the recommended application rates below:
- Berries & Hydrangeas: To prepare new gardens, apply 5-10 lbs per 50 square feet of planting area depending on soil pH desired. Incorporate into soil or cover with fresh soil, compost or mulch and water in well. To feed established plants, apply 1 cup per plant in early spring, mix into soil surface or cover with fresh soil, compost or mulch and water in well. To encourage blue flowers on hydrangeas, soil pH must be 5.5 or lower. Test and apply seasonally as needed.
- Vegetable Gardens & Flower Beds: To prepare new gardens, apply 5 lbs per 50 square feet for each point of pH reduction required. Evenly distribute over soil surface by hand or spreader. Incorporate into the soil or cover with new soil, compost or mulch. For soil pH maintenance, test and apply seasonally as needed.
- Trees, Shrubs & Vines: For new plants or transplants, prepare planting holes and mix 1 cup with the backfill soil. Use amended soil to fill in around the new plant and water in well. For established plants, apply 1 cup Garden Sulfur per 1 inch of trunk diameter evenly to soil outwards towards the drip line. Cover with fresh soil, compost or mulch and water well. For soil pH maintenance, test and apply seasonally as needed.
Why You'll Love It
Why You'll Love It
- Promotes Balanced Soil Chemistry: Maintains a neutral pH level to prevent the solubility of toxic elements like aluminum and manganese, ensuring a stable environment for plants.
- Improves Soil Structure: Facilitates root development, improves water retention, and enhances soil aeration, providing essential oxygen and moisture to plants.
- Optimal Nutrient Availability: Most plants absorb essential nutrients best when the soil pH is neutral (around 6.5 to 7.0). In highly alkaline soils, certain nutrients become less available to plants, leading to deficiencies and poor growth.
FAQ
FAQ
Q: How do I know if I need this?
A: We recommend using our Epic Soil Testing Kit before adding any booster to your soil. This will help you know more about what your soil may be lacking in or need more of for optimal growing! Garden Sulfur is used to lower the pH level in soils with high pH levels.
