Growing Info

Harvesting: When seedlings emerge, the first pair of leaves to show are the cotyledons, which can look very different from the leaves that follow, called "true" leaves. Spinach baby greens are ready to harvest 20 to 25 days after sowing, when they have true leaves, at 2"–4". Slow growers, or cool growing temperatures may require more time. Harvest by cutting just above the soil line. For more than one harvest (up to 3 before flavor declines) leave about 1/2" of leafy growth on the small plants so they can regenerate.

The seeds all sprouted. The harvest yield was quite low but I sowed them later in the season than recommended and we've had very little water and sunlight here the past couple months so... can't really blame the seeds for that. I'll try again in the spring and update my review if necessary.

Other than that, the price was great, shipping was prompt, packaging came with extensive planting information...will likely be buying from BI again.

Some of the seeds I have ordered later in the season I have not planted and may likely do it next year. The season goes by too fast in Upstate NY.

These came up got spindly and then just started turning brown. Never was able to get a couple of leaves for salad. Will try to get the last of the seed to come up in pots this fall, but I don't hold out much hope.

This strain of spinach was an incredible grower. We had fresh spinach salads multiple times per week off of a container that was only about one foot square! It produced right on time, exactly as the package specified, and continued to produce for about two months before it got too hot, and the spinach bolted. I will definitely grow this again next year.
