Lots of peppers this year. Mini straw mulch is what I prefer yeti use because of its sustainability and is biodegradable !
Stacy H.
No pesky weeds to pull! My strawberries are loving it!!
RYAN M.
I wrote a long review and accidently refreshed the page so I'll keep this short
Worth the money, covers more area than expected, virtually seed free, stays in place well
carol c.
Product works great! It looks great in our garden and we love using this mulch. I think the coverage is wrong though. It says the 4 pack covers 80 sqft. But From my calculations it only covers 16 sqft at 2". If it was 3" it would cover even less. That's why I dinged it 1 star.

Nice bundles I can handle and carry right to beds. Easy to spread and goes into nooks and corners. Keeps moisture in beds and saves on water. Helps protect plants against diseases by preventing soil from splashing on bottom leaves. Love it!
Elsa G.
Exactly as advertised…and it came so quick. As a matter of fact, I need to order more for the rest of my garden!!!
Wendi C.
Love this product! It was shipped in a timely manner and customer service was amazing when I called with a question about the product! Thank you so much for your help Kris and Wendi!!

Works wonderfully to suppress weeds and keep soil moist.
Carole B.
I first saw this mulch during an Epic Gardening video and then again. I had planted out starts and seeds (square foot gardening!) and was thinking, I need mulch like this! After fruitless searches in local stores, I looked up the link and ordered a box. This mulch is so pretty, clean, light and easy to place!! My raised garden beds look so beautiful and the veggies are so happy I got this mulch!
Ronald A.
Thank you for your prompt customer service! Happy Gardening!
Kathy F.
Love the straw way better than regular mulch. I think my plants love it too. Glad I made the switch.
Trisha S.
I just put some straw around my asparagus and garlic. I think it’s going to be perfect! Much finer than I was expecting, but that’s even better.
Leslie E.
I use the straw much in my fabric containers, I have 5 gallon containers up to 25 gallon. In coastal Southern California we get mostly sunshine so it’s crucial to keep the soil covered and protected. This is my second year using this brand of straw mulch and a little goes a long way. I have 40 containers in my garden and have no issue with weeds and water every 2-3 days until temps reach 90 and then I water once a day. Anyone who can only water a 7 or 10 gallon grow bag once a day in 90+ degree weather is doing something right.

Love, love love my new Birdies containers and straw mulch. I'm a newbie to container gardening, I stumbled across Kevin's Epic Gardening YouTube videos and have been hooked ever since!
I have even started growing Dragon Fruits!
Love the accessibility that the Birdies containers offers in terms or height and size. Love the color!
Best products on the market by far!
Elizabeth C.
Wow! This garden straw has made water retention in drought climate CA a snap! Combined with my Oya water reservoir I am making the most of my watering and increasing my yield responsibly and cost effectively! Strawberries love it as well!
Martha L.
The four pack filled 3 of my 3x6 Birdie’s beds and it looks fantastic.
Lily C.
Definitely on more pricy side. But so far, it has been great!
Cody H.
Good speedy delivery. You see I use this straw for my strawberries but that’s just one little piece. I use this for our plants on the porch and the garden. Good product to keep the top soil from drying out.
Robin J.
Gardenstraw mini has been a great addition to the garden. In the pic its mulching the cabbage & kohlrabi. I also used it to mulch the garlic this spring. Looking forward to using it with the tomatoes & peppers next. Thanks Epic Gardening.

So far this straw mulch is doing an incredible job at keeping my soil moist. I live in Texas and my kitchen garden gets radiant heat off the house and regularly suffers from extended heat waves. I’m excited to see how this straw mulch helps in the summer time. I’ll be buying more for sure!
Alice C.
I am a avid fan of this site and have learned so much. I recently bought the mulch that he uses and I love it. It is soft and so pretty laying on my plants. This garden straw is amazing and holds in the moisture so I do not have to water so often. I have been recommending this product to all my gardening buddies so they can have protection for their plants. I am unable to send a photo since I have a new phone, sorry.
BUY IT YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT

A little goes a long way! I also thought I’d be blowing all over the place but after watering in it pretty much stays put! Attractive and works great!
Linda G.
Starting my containers with all my stars, fertilizers and straw next
William H.
There are seeds in the straw. I mulched a newly filled raised bed and within one week had 3-inch straw plants growing throughout.
Coleen M.
Just about to layout my garden straw! It looks so good and uniform and will keep my garden moist while saving me some water! Win! Win! Win!
Laura C.
Pros: a box of four is lightweight and covers a large area. I covered four Birdie’s beds and 20 10-gallon grow bags.
Cons: I know the company claims it removes the seeds, but that is not the case. I have to go out DAILY and remove the seeds that have sprouted from the garden straw. I can understand one or two popping up, but I’m having to remove 4-5 from each bed every day. If I don’t stay on top of it, the roots make it into my soil. I’ve removed some that are a few inches deep in there. It moves quick.
I’ve just created a new 8x20 in-ground bed for a perennial garden, but I’ll be using cedar mulch for that. I can’t deal with extra weeding as a result of the mulch.
Lisa M.
Being a first time gardener, the four pack is the perfect amount of straw for me. I really appreciate the fact that it's nongerminating too. This is the first "clean" straw I've been able to find online and in store. I'm also excited to see how well this straw retains moisture in the very hot Colorado sun during the summer. Thank you!
Daphne T.
This is my second order and I love how much it covers!!! Not only does it make my garden look great I love the protection for the hot summers!!
Melanie J.
Super great product. It doesn't look like a lot based on the photos but it really is. Great product, timely shipping across the country. Definitely worth it!
Sara M.
The Garden Straw is clean and neatly cut, and easy to use. Because it is SOOOO expensive, I am using it only in select planters. I have not used it in my main beds where the slugs live, so I don't know if the straw will deter them or not. Bottom line -it's much better than random straw with seeds in it.
Julia B.
The straw is keeping moisture levels consistent for my veggies-- means less watering and more healthy plants. Made a big different during a recent heatwave. Highly recommend!
Madeleine M.
This is, by far, the best mulching straw I've ever used! So easy to spread, so easy for seedings to grow though, so versatile! Love it!
Jonhattan R.
Great product
Linda S.
In my experience straw mulch helps conserve moisture in my raised beds!! It is seed free and therefore weeds will not grow in your garden.
Angela W.
The watermelon really started to do well in this bed that gets full sun all day after I put in the gardenstraw!
Sharon B.
Preparing a Greenstalk for fall planting with the straw mulch.
Annette P.
I am so excited about the Garden Straw!!!
I purchased this item after watching Kevin’s Video on 5 watering mistakes and I admit, I was guilty of not adding mulch!!
So far so good, mulch makes the difference and I am excited to see how well my veggies have been doing considering we have had consistent 80 degree and windy days!
Kathy C.
This is not a review because what I have to say is more of a comment ... while I paid the price for the straw, living in farm country the price was exorbitant for the amount of straw. I appreciate that you could promise there wouldn’t be seeds or at least not many so I am not complaining just commenting. I won’t pay that price again. Thanks!
Heather E.
Great product, a little goes a long way. It looks nice in my garden as well.
Michelle M.
I live in the west end of the San Fernando valley. The garden straw mini is doing a fantastic job keeping the soil around my veggies moist.
LINDA K.
Haven’t got everything covered yet, just my important ones! I was concerned about all the straw in the big box stores containing things I don’t want on my plants until I saw Kevin talking about this! Best part is the fine clean shredding. I can easily spread this in between my container plants and it stays down fine. Bags are lightweight which is good for me also.
Veronica B.
Love this product… so soft to the touch.. beautiful!!!
Loretta F.
I was amazed at how effective this straw is in keeping the moisture in the ground. The small cut is easy to distribute evenly.
Justin K.
Put this in my bed for melons surrounding my peppers. Love this stuff. It’s seriously the best mulch I’ve used !!
Teri T.
Garden straw saved my 5 year old strawberry patch. I had some trouble with fungus earlier in the spring. My local cooperative extension suggested using mulch as a chemical-free way to protect the berries. I needed a clean mulch because I didn’t want to introduce the same/new fungus. It’s been a few weeks since adding 2-3 inches of garden straw and the berries look amazing! It is also so helpful during our 100++ temps in Sacramento. Thank you, Kevin!
Dominique N.
So finally glad this came in time for me to use in the garden tier. So far, so good. I've only seen one strand of grass and I've been using it for about a month now. I've tried several types of straw and this is so far the best. Yea!!! Can't wait to see how well it does for the potatoes that I placed them on, too.
Robbie R.
Great mulch for holding in that moisture. Works very well.
Sherry L.
This mulch beats out my other straw by leaps and bounds. Still waiting for more to come on so I can order again. It goes a lot farther than you think.
Clara Y.
Thank you for offering this in the mini size! It's proven to be a great help mulching my apartment balcony container vegetables. I feel more confident now that they are better protected from the summer heat.
Cristina G.
One of the best mulches I have used since I started gardening. I love it so much I put it in all my indoor potted plants.
Heather D.
I love the garden straw. It works amazing in my garden box and in my flower pots. I only wish I had gotten more.
Rebecca B.
Saving my garden from the dryness of Southern California. Good clean straw that’s easy to put down and keeps soil moist, preventing erosion. Keeps my tomatoes, peppers, and tomatillos happy
Kristine W.
love the garden straw mulch!! i live on the water and it's always windy but the split straw doesn't blow away! holds in moisture very well, especially in the humid heat we've been having here in NJ. i will definitely buy this again once i run out!
Leigh Ann V.
Couldn’t be happier!
Bianca S.
I love this mulch! I use it for my container gardening as I live on a balcony and our summers are hot which quickly dries my soil! This has been good at giving me a little extra time between waterings and it’s an attractive mulch that is really easy to store and very lightweight-perfect for apartment gardening.
Dan C.
Wonderful, clean and very fine straw. I will definitely be purchasing more.
Mary M.
I absolutely love this product. I have purchase straw before from another vendor and was not happy at all. I wish this product would stay in stock - lol. I'm ready for more.
Joni D.
Hi Eric! The straw came just in time to apply in my small garden! We live in the San Fernando Valley and it's been in the high 90s. The straw has done the trick in keeping the soil in my plants cooler! Thank you!
Kathleen S.
Very pleased with the straw, great coverage. It truly stays in place despite the wind.
Charmaine L.
This straw is absolutely perfect for mulch applications. As soon as it came in, I put a good layer as mulch for my cherry tomatoes. Works like a charm and keeps the soil moist and prevents splash-back on the leaves. I highly recommend to anyone!
Linda E.
I live in Bakersfield where it is always hot, hit, hot. Without the addition of Epic Gardening’s straw mulch I would have lost plants right and left or spent my life watering. Straw mulch is already on my order list the minute it is back in stock! Get ya some❤️
Nikki B.
I’ve resisted a lot of things in my garden because they make it “look ugly”. We are in a terrible drought and this year, I have installed shade cloth and used straw for the first time. Oh the wonderful ness. I water less, I have bigger, happier plants and more flowers for fruit emerging. Thank you Kevin Espiritu and Epic Gardening
James T.
I love using this GardenStraw as mulch for my vegetable garden. It looks great, doesn't blow away, and I haven't had to weed since putting it in!
Shannon J.
Love this garden straw!
Ngoc Ly L.
Love the quality and so happy to have the mulch during these heat waves. Our garden beds are protected!!
Melody P.
This area of my garden gets a lot of sun and nothing grew very well until this straw mulch! My soil is a little cooler now and my plants are thriving. GREAT product. Thanks!!
Alicia F.
We love it! Going through a heat wave and it’s keep our soil super moist!
Helen K.
Great high-quality garden straw! I use straw mulch regularly and love it. This garden straw is much finer and softer than normal straw, which makes it easier to spread and lay flat. This is very helpful when planting densely, especially in containers/grow bags, and seems to be gentler on my young seedlings. The color is also more golden yellow, which is beautiful. It almost felt like painting golden yellow on top of my dark soil because it spread so easily! The photo is after a month of being outside and had just been rained on - plants are growing well with the straw mulch.
Jennifer A.
Great product. I’ve never used straw before for covering, but this was super easy and is working great. Product arrived in time for dispersal over some plants I’m hoping make it thru “winter” (central California for what it’s worth), and already with some crazy colder weather, rain, and then warm again my plants don’t seem as shocked!!! And straw stayed in place thru windy conditions thus far. Fair price for a great product.
Camille P.
Used this straw to protect my over wintered pepper plants. The straw is not only helping with warmth and water retention, it makes for a nice clean look in my sunroom. I also love the compact packaging. Great product!
Thuy-Anh N.
I have always wanted to use straw as mulch but I didn't know of a reliable source to get small quantities, so I was excited to purchase a mini bag of Garden Straw from someone I trusted- Kevin at Epic Gardening. I am a beginner gardener who dabbles with container gardening so this mini bag of straw was perfect for me. I prepped many of my plants for overwintering and the Garden Straw worked well. I still have a lot left and used the sticker label of the package to reseal the bag. Bulk purchases doesn't work for me in terms of storage so I am thrilled that this mini bag is available.
Brittney R.
Awesome straw! I love the soft texture and my garlic are super happy being tucked away under it. This doesn’t feel like your typical straw and is much finer. Love this product!
Ileana S.
It looks great and I can’t wait to get more! It came quickly and had a great price.
Jeanne L.
Has seriously cut down on how much water I need. Also, I have used a top coat for a mulch in the past but it’s sometimes hard to tell what’s mulch and what’s soil. It’s easy to tell with the straw.
