Product Details

Butterflies and hummingbirds will flock to your garden to feast on the sweet nectar of this easy-to-grow, heirloom perennial. Often called swamp milkweed, this species grows best in moist or wet soils, such as near a pond or stream, but the loosely-clumped plants also grow well in a garden with regular watering. Decorative seed pods are beautiful in dried arrangements. Sap is toxic; avoid eye/skin contact and do not ingest.

We cannot ship this variety to Hawaii as per state regulations. Please do not order if your shipping address is in these states.

Had excellent germination of the seeds. The seedlings are growing strong. I appreciate the excellent instructions on the seed packet relating to vernalization.

These are blooming profusely in their second year and they’re covered in wasps and butterflies! I planted these last spring and they just grew foliage about 24” high. This year they’re about 36” tall and keep on blooming! Love these, the insects are cool to watch

Followed the instructions, planted and set in my unheated sunroom for a month. Then I brought them inside where they sprouted within a few days. They are doing well and will be planted out soon!

There were so many seeds in the package, and the germination was great. I put them on a wet paper towel in the fridge for 5 weeks, then put them in seed starting mix on a heat mat. They pretty much all popped up within two days and are now thriving, even in rough Texas heat. Thanks!!
